ConnectWise Automate integration

This section contains the release notes for the ConnectWise Automate integration with GravityZone. The ConnectWise Automate Integration Guide is available here.

Note

Bitdefender has started a controlled rollout of advanced inventory synchronization features, as described in this section. For users to be eligible for the rollout process, they need to install the plugin version 1.4.0.109 or later. In the following period, Bitdefender will progressively deliver the new features to the eligible users, with the aim of reaching the entire installation base as soon as possible.

Version 1.4.0.181

Release date: 2024.03.05

Resolved issues

Deployment

  • Fixed an incompatibility issue with the 2024.2 update released by ConnectWise Automate that prevented the Bitdefender agent from deploying to computers.

Version 1.4.0.167

Release date: 2023.12.06

New features and improvements

Deployment

  • The Bitdefender Plugin introduces advanced computer synchronization options in the new Deployment Settings and Computer Events sections. The new computer synchronization feature is the main tool to control the synchronization of new and already existing ConnectWise computers in GravityZone. The computer synchronization task is automatically performed by the plugin each hour or on-demand from the Deployment Actions > Sync GravityZone.

    Note

Bitdefender will start a controlled rollout of advanced computer synchronization features via the plugin version 1.4.0.167. In the following period, Bitdefender will progressively deliver the new features to eligible integrations, with the aim of reaching the entire installation base as soon as possible.

ConnectWise PSA

  • The new ConnectWise PSA section of the Bitdefender Plugin enables you to connect your existing ConnectWise Automate - Bitdefender GravityZone integration with your ConnectWise Automate - PSA (Manage) plugin integration, if applicable.

You can leverage existing company mappings between Automate and PSA together with the ones from Automate to GravityZone in order to set up billing directly from GravityZone into PSA.

Version 1.4.0.145

Release date: 2023.10.04

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • The Bitdefender Plugin introduces in the Client Mapping and Change Product sections the new Sync with Policies deployment mode, in addition to existing Use Package Defaults and Use Custom Package options. This mode deploys the Bitdefender agent (BEST) with the features active in your assigned GravityZone policy. Bitdefender synchronizes the features every 24 hours and, if changes are detected, reconfigures the agent deployed on computers accordingly.

  • The new Sync Features option performs an on-demand local assessment on each target machine to determine the features that need to be added or removed. Depending on the selected deployment mode, Bitdefender then reconfigures the agent according to the active features in the assigned policy or installation package. You can use Sync Features in the Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone > Deployment Actions section and in the Client, Location and Computer screens.

Note

The Sync with Policies and Sync Features options are only available for Windows operating systems.

Version 1.4.0.133

Release date: 2023.07.19

New features and improvements

Deployment

  • Backend improvements for Bitdefender agent deployment on new machines.

Version 1.4.0.116

Release date: 2023.03.29

Important

Starting with this version, a publicly accessible callback URL becomes mandatory for the ConnectWise Automate integration to work properly.

To allow callback URL validation, you must whitelist in the firewall the following IP addresses and domains:

  • 20.166.124.48

  • 20.103.158.142

  • cwautomate-api.rmm.bitdefender.com

  • authorization-service.rmm.bitdefender.com

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • Added a new template for consolidated Network Attack Defense alerts, which are now aggregated into the same ticket based on source IP address. Aggregation occurs on tickets that have status “New”. To configure consolidated Network Attack Defense alerts, refer to Configuring consolidated Network Attack Defense alerts.

  • Added a new template for consolidated Hyper Detect alerts, which are now aggregated into the same ticket based on computer name, malware name, and file name. Aggregation occurs on tickets that have the status “New”. To configure consolidated Hyper Detect alerts, refer to Configuring consolidated Hyper Detect alerts.

  • You can now edit the ticket severity for Endpoint Detection and Response alerts in the Bitdefender GravityZone > Alerts Settings section. The ticket displays the new custom severity while also keeping in the details the default Bitdefender severity provided by GravityZone. For details about ConnectWise tickets and their settings, refer to EDR incidents in the ConnectWise Automate integration with GravityZone.

Deployment

  • Added exclusion support for Acronis Cyber Protect, which Bitdefender no longer tries to remove from endpoints when installing the Bitdefender security agent.

Resolved issues

General

  • The Antivirus monitor incorrectly reported the “Bitdefender GravityZone Missing” status for macOS endpoints.

Version 1.4.0.113

Release date: 2023.02.08

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • The Bitdefender Plugin now uses a new API key validation method. Click the Validate button in the Plugin Settings page to check the API key. The key is also checked every time the Database Agent is started or restarted, or regularly every 12 hours.

  • The Callback URL section has been moved from the Alert Settings page to Plugin Settings. The callback URL requires a valid URL and it should accept inbound connections.

    Note

This is the last version that supports the Bitdefender Plugin in offline mode. Starting with the next version, a publicly accessible callback URL becomes mandatory for the ConnectWise Automate integration to work properly.

  • Added support for Firewall and Sandbox Analyzer incidents, which trigger alerts through specific internal monitors.

You can enable the Firewall and Sandbox Analyzer alerts in the Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone section, under Configuration > Alert Settings.

  • Bitdefender keeps the eps.rmm file up to date by checking it more frequently and downloading it when necessary.

Resolved issues

Configuration

  • In some cases, tenants who disabled all events in the Alert Settings page continued to receive alerts.

Version 1.4.0.111

Release date: 2022.11.14

Resolved issues

Deployment

  • Bitdefender security agent installation failed when the ConnectWise Automate server did not have a valid hostname set up in the Redirect Config settings.

Version 1.4.0.109

Release date: 2022.10.26

New features and improvements

Product

  • Added support for Apple M2 processors.

  • ConnectWise Automate now distributes the epsermm.exe file to Windows machines only when required instead of targeting the entire inventory. These machines must belong to a client mapped to GravityZone.

  • The Manual AV Scan script performs updates and antimalware scans on Windows machines.

Configuration

  • Creating companies in the Client Mapping screen now allows configuring auto deployment options.

Resolved issues

Product

  • In some cases, Bitdefender security agent deployment failed on Linux machines due to an issue with the installation package.

Configuration

  • The automatic reboot option was displayed as disabled after restarting the Bitdefender Plugin due to a GUI issue.

Version 1.4.0.91

Release date: 2022.08.10

New features and improvements

Auditing

  • The Bitdefender Plugin now records changes made to alert settings for each supported module. The logs are available in ConnectWise Control Center at System > Configuration > Dashboard > Management > Auditing, under the Bitdefender GravityZone - Alert Settings category.

Resolved issues

Configuration

  • An error was occurring after selecting Bitdefender EDR when trying to create a customer record in Client Mapping or changing the product in Client Subscriptions sections.

General

  • The Bitdefender Plugin was logging entries in the LTSQLErrors.txt file for non-existent tables.

Version 1.4.0.87

Release date: 2022.06.08

New features and improvements

Configuration

  • You can now create and edit custom EDR rules in the Tools > Bitdefender GravityZone section, to include or exclude specific behaviors from triggering incidents. To apply rules on clients, use the options available when you edit them in EDR Rules, create customer records in Client Mapping, or change client settings in Client Subscriptions.

General

  • This version of the Plugin comes with an improved look and feel, reflected in better window animation, more prominent interface elements, validation for some user-entered data, and more.

Version 1.4.0.61

Release date: 2022.02.23

New features and improvements

Agent deployment

  • Added support for installing the Bitdefender security agent on Apple computers with M1 CPUs.

User experience

  • Minor interface adjustments for more consistency.

Resolved issues

Plugin settings

  • Changing the API key resulted in duplicating event notifications for existing alerts under a certain scenario.

Client mapping

  • Remapping a client to an existing GravityZone company after it had been removed was returning an error when the groups and packages were already created from the previous mapping. Now the plugin deletes any packages found using the name convention during the mapping process.

  • The plugin sometimes returned “object reference not set” exceptions when performing a client mapping operation.

Auto deployment

  • The plugin did not properly clean up the deployment package details if an existing client mapping was removed. This generated deployment issues in later steps.

Computer screen

  • The plugin did not update the endpoint details in a timely manner in the Computer screen when uninstalling the Bitdefender security agent directly from the machine.

Internal monitors

  • The Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) monitor was being disabled for installations on certain servers due to an incompatibility with MySQL 5.6.
